4 Ways to Help Supervisors Manage Challenging Church Goals

February 16, 2019 by Patricia Leave a Comment

challenging goals

Hopefully your church has developed goals for the year. Your job as church leader is to help your team manage challenging church goals.

I recently read an article about a study that uncovers an interesting result of goals that are perceived as being too difficult to attain – abusive supervisors.

This study reveals that when unattainable goals are set, the stress and pressure on supervisors to achieve those goals, increases. And it is the employee who pays the price. Read the Full Article →

Are Your Policies In Print? Or Left To Memory?

October 25, 2017 by Patricia 7 Comments

Churches are birthed out of a desire to help people discover the transformation that comes from learning, and living life based on biblical principles.

Every founding pastor can probably tell you when they first felt this aspiration and how it led them down a path to pioneer a church.

Churches grow when they provide members with solid biblical teaching and discipleship that is supported by structured systems and processes. Read the Full Article →

10 Practices that Safeguard Against Church Embezzlement

July 12, 2016 by Patricia 3 Comments

The concept of a trusted bookkeeper, treasurer or money counter stealing from the church is simply counter intuitive for those of us who embrace Christian principles.

I was saddened to read about a neighborhood church, where my kids used to attend youth events, being yet another victim of church embezzlement.

All you have to do is go to your search bar and type in ‘church embezzlement’ and you will find many headlines:

    • Woman pleads guilty to embezzling $300 from Church;
    • Manlius church treasurer’s husband arraigned on embezzlement charges;
    • Treasurer convicted and sentenced for embezzling over $110,000 from church bank accounts in California;
    • Church bookkeeper gets 3 years for embezzlement;
    • Largest South Korean church’s embezzlement scandal just got worse;

And the list goes on and on.   Read the Full Article →

What Can Your Church Learn From This Flight Attendant!

April 27, 2016 by Patricia 1 Comment

People who fly a lot are familiar with the mundane experience of long security lines, crowded waiting rooms and the cattle car feel when boarding the plane. Read the Full Article →

8 Things I am Thankful for This Thanksgiving

November 24, 2015 by Patricia 2 Comments

I love this time of year! I now live in Southwest Florida and do miss the change of seasons, and the excitement that comes with autumn and the anticipation of entering into a new season.  I know a lot of people who dread fall because the new season tends to be cold.

I don’t necessarily like the cold weather, which is why we relocated to a warmer climate, but I do enjoy hunkering down by the fire and watching a classic movie.  Read the Full Article →

March 13, 2014 by Patricia 4 Comments

Whether you need help creating a design, logo and look for your website, or help creating an email distribution process for members, there are many affordable vendors out there that will do a great job.

Overseeing the operation of a ministry requires many business processes. Some of these processes can and should be kept in house but often, outsourcing a service can be more affordable, efficient and effective.

As a church grows, particularly when it is in the planting phase, there are limited resources to pay for  some of the products and services  every ministry needs. Read the Full Article →

Do You Have The Guts to Ask This Question?

January 29, 2014 by Patricia 3 Comments

the challenge is to invite feedback from employees and encourage them to share their perspectives. While this can sometimes be a difficult thing to do, it can make leaders more aware of blind spots or areas of weaknesses that may be obvious to others, but not necessarily to the leader.

I am always looking for inspiring podcasts, and one that I subscribe to is Andy Stanley’s leadership podcast.  The topics they discuss are always relevant, enlightening and practical.  In this episode he spoke about leadership questions.

A recent podcast challenges leaders to ask this one question, – If you were me, what would you do differently?

The premise of the challenge is to invite feedback from employees and encourage them to share their perspectives. Read the Full Article →
